The North Dakota Commerce is pleased to announce the launch of the 2023 Base Retention Grants, a crucial initiative aimed at supporting organizations committed to strengthening and retaining the missions of the Air Force and Air National Guard in Minot, Grand Forks, and Fargo.
The Base Retention Grant program allocates:
- $850,000 for eligible organizations in Minot
- $250,000 for eligible organizations in Grand Forks
- $250,000 for eligible organizations in Fargo
Streamlined Application Process
Eligible organizations interested in accessing the Base Retention Grants can submit a concise application letter outlining their plans for utilizing the funds to support the Air Force and Air National Guard missions. Applications must be submitted electronically by September 22, 2023, at 5:00pm CST to Shayden Akason, Deputy Director of Commerce's Economic Development & Finance division, at sakason@nd.gov.
Strengthening Partnerships for Military Excellence
Commerce will diligently evaluate applications and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including the Governor's Office, Office of the Adjutant General, and the Military Issues in North Dakota Task Force (TF MIND) as needed. Successful applicants will receive funding decisions within 45 days of the review's conclusion.
The grant funds are intended to fuel initiatives focusing on:
- Advocacy and Awareness
- Sentinel Preparation
- Quality of Life
- Strategic Advising
- Advancement of Personnel Recruitment
- Community-Based Programming and Support
All awarded funds must be used in adherence to state laws and regulations. Recipients will be required to provide periodic written reports on fund utilization, progress, and outcomes.
