The North Dakota Department of Commerce encourages applicants to apply for the Rural Facility Planning Grant that will open on Dec. 18. This initiative will provide crucial funding for planning and developing empty or soon-to-be vacant rural facilities aimed at enhancing community life.

"This grant will help to build resilient rural communities by supporting planning that supports strategically repurposing facilities, creating dynamic spaces to address immediate needs and pave the way for increased economic diversification," Commerce Community Services Director Maria Effertz said.

Program Objectives: 

  • Support communities in developing plans for multi-use facilities.  
  • Encourage collaboration with relevant organizations. 
  • Identify community champions to drive projects.

 

Eligibility: 

Open to cities, counties, economic development organizations, and tribal entities. Funding up to $50,000 with a minimum 10% match.

 

Timeline: 

  • Grant Opens: Dec. 18  
  • Grant Closes: Feb. 9
