The North Dakota Centers of Excellence Commission awarded funding requests for two Venture Grants, two Research ND grants and one Research ND BIO project totaling $1,277,924 at its meetings held February 21 and 28.

Manufacturers across North Dakota will celebrate National Manufacturers Day October 3 with a number of events across the state. The event is designed to expand knowledge about manufacturing careers and the industry's value to North Dakota's economy.

Land Board Awards Nearly $8 Million to K-12 Schools Impacted By Oil And Gas Development

The Board of University and School Lands awarded nearly $8 million to North Dakota K-12 schools impacted by the rapid growth of oil and gas development in the state. The board approved 33 projects totaling $7,888,459 giving priority to safety and security needs, teacher housing, temporary portable classrooms to address increased student enrollment and other projects needed in preparation for the upcoming school year.

North Dakota Workforce Newsletter Avaliable

The North Dakota Department of Commerce Workforce Development Division has created an electronic newsletter to keep private and public partners abreast on the latest workforce news affecting our state. This quarterly electronic newsletter will feature information such as tips on how to recruit talent for your business, ways to engage newly hired employees and success stories from companies who have used state programs to achieve a goal.  Employers, Regional Education Associations, economic development councils and interested individuals can sign up for this free electronic newsletter by visiting and click sign up for e-news.  View September’s issue today.

New Agritourism Group Formed

North Dakota Tourism Development Manager Dean Ihla recently participated in the creation of the National Agritourism Professionals Association in Indianapolis, Ind. Representatives from 21 states and Canadian provinces passed the organization’s charter and bylaws, discussed leadership and membership requirements and planned for NAPA's 2015 conference.

NAPA will provide industry resources and support to help agritourism businesses work through regulatory and policy challenges. Additionally, NAPA will serve to network state, regional and national opportunities for agritourism professionals and service providers, farmers and farm direct marketers in the promotion of their agritourism activities. It will also assist the development of collaborative education opportunities to promote best practices and marketing trends concerning agritourism. Click here for more information on NAPA.

The bi-annual economic development roundtable provides those keenly interested in economic development issues with an opportunity to submit agenda topics, and then Commerce staff work to bring leaders on these topics to the conversation. Commissioner Al Anderson hosts the roundtable which includes a block of time for all attendees to discuss the successes and challenges in their respective communities or regions. Tourism's Annual Marketing Update Meeting

Heritage Center, Bismarck Capitol Grounds

North Dakota Department of Commerce Tourism Division will be hosting its annual marketing update meeting on Tuesday, October 7th, at the Heritage Center on the Bismarck Capitol Grounds, in Bismarck from 1 - 4 p.m. There will be a tour of the newly expanded State Museum. The meeting will highlight North Dakota Tourism's 2015 advertising plan, cooperative advertising options and other opportunities for tourism partners to tie into the state marketing programs.
