Bruce Hagen, Weatherization Assistance Program Manager, was recently selected for the U.S. Department of Energy's Health and Safety Committee. Hagen, along with 9 other participants, will spend a year helping to develop new policy for the national weatherization program.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program provides grants to states, territories, and Indian tribes to improve the energy efficiency of the homes of low-income families. These governments, in turn, contract with local governments and nonprofit agencies to provide weatherization services to those in need using the latest technologies for home energy upgrades.
“Bruce is a valuable member of our team at Commerce and and I’m pleased to see him recognized with this selection,” Commerce Commissioner Alan Anderson said. “his experience and expertise in this important program will benefit programs across the country.”
Since the weatherization program began in 1976, DOE has helped improve the lives of more than 7 million families by reducing their energy bills.
