Gov. Jack Dalrymple wished North Dakota a happy birthday on November 2nd and encouraged citizens to commemorate the anniversary of the day in 1889 that North Dakota joined the Union as the 39th state. This year marks North Dakota’s 126th anniversary of statehood.

Evolution1 Breaks Ground on West Fargo Facility
Evolution1 broke ground on its new West Fargo facility on Monday. The 40,000-square-foot, two-story building will leave room for an 11,000-square-foot expansion on the east and 16,000 square feet on the west, which would bring the total footprint to approximately 67,000 square feet with room for up to 500 employees.

Dalrymple: North Dakota Selected for Federal Biofuels Program
Gov. Jack Dalrymple announced that North Dakota is among 21 states selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to participate in the Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership. The program will provide states with $100 million in grants to expand motorists’ access to renewable fuels.

Xcel Launches North Dakota's First Unmanned Aircraft for Utility Flight
Xcel Energy launched North Dakota's first Federal Aviation Administration-sanctioned utility flight of an unmanned aircraft. The drone, which measures about 4½ feet in length, resembles a small helicopter and is being used to inspect a 7-mile section of an electrical transmission line as part of an FAA pilot project.

North Dakota Ranks #4 on Forbes Best States for Business and Careers List
North Dakota ranks first is a number of areas in the Forbes Best States for Business and Careers list. “Our business friendly environment and efforts to diversify the economy are continuing to keep North Dakota growing strong,” Commerce Commissioner Al Anderson said.

Governor's Photo Contest Winners
The winners and honorable mentions from the 12th annual North Dakota Governor's Photo Contest were presented by Lt. Governor Drew Wrigley in a ceremony in Memorial Hall of the North Dakota Capitol building. Joining in the presentation were North Dakota Tourism Director Sara Otte Coleman, North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) Executive Director Beth Gigante Klingenstein and AAA Senior Public Affairs Representative Gene LaDoucer.
The vibrant fall colors of “Teddy’s Cabin” earned Katherine Plessner the Best of Show and Attraction category awards. The Verona photographer also won in the Scenery category for her “Hi Line Train.” This year’s contest began in May and had more than double the entries from the year before at 1,133.
