The United States is one of the world's most prosperous economies, with a gross domestic product that exceeded that of any other country last year. However, a vibrant economy alone does not ensure all residents are well off. In a recent study from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), U.S. states under-performed their regional counterparts in other countries in a number of important metrics that gauge well-being.

North Dakota Launches 21st Century Learning Tools for K-12 Students, Educators

Gov. Jack Dalrymple joined representatives from EduTech, the North Dakota Information Technology Department (ITD) and Microsoft Corp. to launch Microsoft Office 365, a standard productivity tool for K-12 students and educators to enhance learning and better prepare students for higher education and careers. The initiative will provide all North Dakota K-12 students and school personnel with access to Office 365 at no cost to school districts.

APUC To Review Funding Requests Totaling

The North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) will review funding requests for eleven projects totaling $346,025 at its quarterly meeting November 20th at the NDSU Extension Center in Carrington.
 
APUC is a committee of the North Dakota Department of Commerce that administers grant programs for researching and developing new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature based agri-tourism, prototype and technology, and technical assistance.
 
The following requests will be reviewed:
  • Firehouse Ribs, LLC (Medina)
  • NDSU Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials (Fargo)
  • NDSU Department of Plant Sciences (Fargo)
  • Renuvix, LLC (Fargo)
  • Trojan Hoist Company (Hettinger)
