Photographers Encouraged to Enter 2015 North Dakota Governor's Photo Contest

Gov. Jack Dalrymple and the North Dakota Tourism Division, in partnership with AAA and North Dakota Council on the Arts, are kicking off the 2015 Governor’s Photo Contest. All North Dakota photographers are encouraged to submit their photos that capture the unique things to see and do in the state. Deadline for entry is August 31, 2015.

North Dakota Dominates North American UAS Industry with Largest Test Site and Key Commercialization Opportunities

Nearly two-dozen North Dakota aerospace and aviation leaders were in Atlanta for the AUVSI Unmanned Systems North America 2015 conference to showcase the state's dominance in America's hottest new industry. As one of the largest blocks of airspace available in the country for flying unmanned aerial systems (UAS) with the goal of integrating UAS into the national airspace, the delegation was at the show to discuss how the nation's first operational UAS test site is advancing research and has become increasingly open for businesses in this high profile industry.

Dakota Prairie Refinery Begins Operations in Western North Dakota 

Dakota Prairie refinery has begun operations in Dickinson. The refinery is a joint-partnership of MDU Resources Group Inc. and Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. The Dakota Prairie refinery is the first greenfield fuels refinery build in the U.S. in nearly 40 years.

Officials: Drone Industry Unfolding Quickly in North Dakota

The unmanned aircraft industry is growing so quickly in North Dakota that two Fargo companies almost signed their recent merger deal on a napkin. Aerobotic Innovations, a software company, and Packet Digital, a hardware engineer, formed Botlink after executives from the companies met.

A recent collaboration between Sensurion Aerospace and the University of North Dakota has resulted in a new unmanned aircraft system (UAS) Pipeline Program that’s designed to provide career-building opportunities for graduates of UND’s John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences

First North Dakota-Manufactured Drone Unveiled in Wahpeton

State and industry officials have unveiled the first unmanned aircraft manufactured in North Dakota in Wahpeton. ComDel Innovation signed an agreement in February with Florida-based Altavian Inc. to manufacture drones and components at ComDel's plant in Wahpeton, where the companies showcased their first model.

Find the Good Life in North Dakota

The Find the Good Life in North Dakota initiative and Commerce's Tourism Division have partnered and will soon be showcased in a Delta Sky Magazine profile in July 2015. The feature will include 3 or more pages of editorial content, along with 2 full page ads, plus a follow up full page ad to be placed before January 2016. The Delta Sky website will feature a Sky Extra video on North Dakota and include 6 months of ads and inclusion in their iPad application. Businesses in North Dakota will be approached to be a part of the profile, which will result in more editorial content for North Dakota.
 
To participate in the Delta Sky Profile, business ad rates begin around $2,000. For more information contact Sara Otte Coleman.

EDND Summer Conference

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
