by NDTourism Department

Posted on 2/4/2009

On Valentine's Day, take advantage of North Dakota's many unique events and attractions that will make the most romantic day of the year easy on the wallet, but long on memories. Choose one or more of these ideas or contact North Dakota Tourism for more options at NDtourism.com or call 800-435-5663 or 701-328-2525.

1. Cross-Country Skiing
Rent skis for as little as $7 and try your hand at this popular winter activity. State parks, city parks and many golf courses allow folks to experience this great-for-everybody sport. Afterward, warm up with a bite to eat and a cup of coffee or hot chocolate at your favorite eatery. www.ndtourism.com; 701-328-2525

2. Don't Strike Out
Don't strike out on Valentine's Day. Instead, try something off the wall. Go bowling. Maybe it's been a while since you were on the lanes. What you'll find is that things have changed - sometimes. For a retro flair, bowl a few games on the authentic 1950s bowling alley at Bowl Mor Lanes in Park River. Eat, drink and roll a few frames at the newly remodeled JW's in Harvey.
